Renewable energies
The term «renewable energies» is applied to various forms of
energy production. In addition to hydropower, which is already a
traditional source of power in Switzerland, biomass, geothermal
power, solar power and wind power are classed as «renewable
energies».
With the exception of hydropower, renewable energies still
account for only a modest share of total energy consumption in
Switzerland. Cost-covering feed-in remuneration was
introduced on 1 May 2008 to increase the proportion of renewable
energies in Switzerland and make funding available for the
production of electricity from renewable energies. This measure
aims to give a strong impetus to renewable energies.
Swissgrid is your central contact point. We are your contact for applications for funding and financial management of the funding process.

Energy and Communications).
These guarantees are issued for the following purposes:
- For private sector management of the guarantees of origin for large producers.

remuneration.
- For additional cost financing.
