The purpose of the «European Forum for Energy Business Information Exchange» (ebIX) is to advance and standardise the use of electronic data interchange in the energy sector in order to safeguard the efficiency and transparency of the markets for electricity and gas. To this end, grid operators, distribution companies and software suppliers work together to develop useful standards for data interchange that apply throughout Europe, such as for the exchange of meter data or for customer switching.

Swissgrid is one of the founding members of ebIX and represents the interests of the Swiss market, thereby ensuring the seamless interchange of Swiss data in accordance with the norms applicable throughout Europe.
