Background information on long-term NTCs CH-DE
| In the coming summer months, intense maintenance periods are foreseen in the Swiss transmission grid. As these maintenance periods coincide with the scheduled maintenance outages of the nuclear power plants, Swissgrid and the German TSOs Amprion and TransnetBW had to introduce a discontinuous yearly and monthly NTC product on the border Switzerland-Germany. During these “maintenance periods”, the respective NTC is significantly lower. Especially the exhaustive project work on the 220kV lines between Chamoson and Mühleberg are constraining the available NTCs. Once these works are finished, the line capacity will be increased. It is important to mention that the provided yearly and monthly products and their underlying NTCs do not reflect a prediction of the final Day-Ahead NTC. The Day-Ahead NTC is determined according to the regular methodology, which considers more recent information. The availability of the grid is a critical factor and latest maintenance schedules can be continuously derived from the transparency platform.
