New approach to calculate DayAhead NTCs on Swiss Nordern Borders
| From the start of the 4th December 2025, Swissgrid will apply a new approach to calculate the DayAhead NTCs on the Swiss Northern Borders. The change is an early implementation of the already approved “Core-CH consideration” package, as referred to in the new methodology. It is further necessary for the first coordination step with the Core region, which is expected for Q1 2026. As Swissgrid will consider latest daily and hourly information from European processes, the resulting NTCs will inherently have a higher fluctuation throughout the day. The final NTCs per border will still depend on a daily bilateral agreement with the respective neighboring TSO. Therefore, NTCs cannot be increased over historical maxima, which are mainly imposed by the neighboring TSOs. Changing this will only be possible with the conclusion of the Electricity Agreement and a full integration into the Flow-Based Capacity Calculation. |
