They support and improve each of our departments using a variety of methods and approaches as well as new technical achievements such as optimisation processes, stochastic methods and blockchain technology. Etienne Auger, Research & Digitalisation Manager

Etienne Auger and his colleagues are constantly on the lookout for the latest and most innovative technologies to keep the Swiss extra-high-voltage grid fit for the future. Etienne networks with universities and technical universities for that purpose. He tells the researchers what Swissgrid needs from a new technology and describes its objectives. When one of these innovations is ready, Etienne presents the idea to our specialist departments. If it meets the defined expectations, it is tested in a pilot project and – if all goes well – introduced.
