Old overhead line over the Gotthard Pass to be relocated to the new road tunnel
The extra-high-voltage line over the Gotthard Pass is being relocated to a special service duct as part of the construction of the second road tunnel. The Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) has given Swissgrid confirmation that no sectoral plan procedure needs to be carried out for this project.

The tariffs for the transmission grid are set to increase for the first time in seven years. A household with an annual consumption of 4,500 kWh will pay an average of CHF 50 for Swissgrid’s services in 2022. This amounts to around 6 per cent of its annual electricity costs.
