Adrian Häsler (58), Head of Business Unit Grid Infrastructure and Deputy CEO, has decided to leave Swissgrid as of 31 March 2026 to take on new tasks, mainly on a strategic level.

Swissgrid welcomes the «Grid express» bill (legislation on the conversion and expansion of the electricity grid), which the Federal Council referred to Parliament today. It contains important legislative changes to ensure that the grid can keep pace with the restructuring of the energy system.

Swissgrid’s shareholders approved all the proposals put forward by the Board of Directors at today’s General Assembly. Astrid Schnidrig was newly elected to the Board of Directors, and amendments were adopted to the Articles of Incorporation.

To ensure that the grid meets future requirements, Swissgrid has updated its long-term grid planning in the Strategic Grid 2040 project and identified 31 key grid projects.

Once again, 2024 underlined the importance of cooperation between European transmission system operators to ensure grid stability, and hence ultimately the success of the transformation of the energy system.

Swissgrid is integrating a 220-kilovolt line into the second tube of the Gotthard Road Tunnel. This will allow two important national infrastructures to be bundled. Combining an extra-high-voltage line with a motorway tunnel is a first in Europe.

Together with the 2026 tariffs, Swissgrid has defined a new mechanism for calculating the balancing energy price. Its aim is to help reduce the need for control energy and strengthen the balance of the Swiss control area.

Electricity consumers will pay less for Swissgrid’s services in 2026.

Three national and international rating agencies have updated their evaluation of Swissgrid’s sustainability performance in recent months.
